Three steps to a sharper rate

  1. 1

Check your rate in 30 seconds

    Four quick questions, no paperwork.

  2. 2

    Match with a licensed adviser

A licensed NZ adviser picks up your enquiry.

  3. 3

    They negotiate, you save

They take your case to the lenders and come back with options.

Know before you refix

The rollover trap

Banks send a refix letter with their carded rates. Accepting without comparing is the most expensive default setting in NZ.

Break fees aren't always a dealbreaker

They depend on your rate, time remaining and market movement. Sometimes savings and cashback outweigh them. An adviser can run the numbers before you commit.

Cashback clawback

Leave a lender too soon after taking cashback and you may repay some or all of it. Always check the timeframe.

The live mortgage rates supplied by interest.co.nz are designed to be updated on a weekly basis, however sometimes updates may not occur as intended. Therefore the displayed rates are for reference only and may not be accurate, and we recommend you always check with a mortgage adviser or lender directly to confirm the latest rates on offer. The rates highlighted above are the ‘leading’ bank rate of the day, these rates may not be available to everyone. The highlighted rates may be ‘specials’, have ‘LVR requirements’, are for ‘owner occupiers’, or other ‘fine print’ to meet the eligibility criteria. Fixed rate rolling over soon?

When a fixed term ends, the loan rolls onto a new rate. If rates have moved since you fixed, repayments can change without much warning.

Knowing your numbers before the rollover date gives you time to compare options, ask questions about structure and decide what fits your budget.

  • See what your repayments look like at current rates
  • Compare what other lenders are advertising
  • Understand splitting lending across different terms

Cashback of up to $25,000* on refinance

Lenders often pay a one-off cashback when lending is moved to them. It is usually calculated as a percentage of total lending.

These offers run as campaigns, so what is available changes over time. An adviser tracks what is currently in market and what conditions come attached.

Check What's Available

Cashback amounts are indicative, subject to lender criteria and clawback conditions, and can change at any time.
